BMW Motorrad has been very active in India lately, and the price drop for the latest G 310 R to make it more accessible and competitive. However, the German two-wheeler maker seems to be making way for a new product for the Indian market. This new product is the BMW C 400 GT maxi-scooter, and the brand has teased another video of the same.
This BMW C 400 GT could be the most powerful and premium maxi-scooter the Indian market has seen in the segment. It would get the ride-by-wire throttle, which the company calls ‘E-gas.’ It is powered by a 350cc single-cylinder engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 34 bhp at 7,500 RPM, along with a peak torque of 35 Nm, which comes at 6,000 RPM. This engine is Euro-5 compliant, so expect it to be compliant with the Indian emission norms too.
However, though the engine specifications remain unchanged from the international model, there are some changes. The catalytic converter of the scooter is modified, along with the modification of the cylinder head and wideband oxygen sensor.
This 2021 BMW C 400 GT was launched in Malaysia recently and got quite a few updates over the previous iteration. It was first teased in India in July and is set to be the first maxi-scooter for the company here. However, there is no word about the pricing yet, though we get a slight idea about what it could be. The Malaysia price of the scooter is RM 48,500, which means the maximum price here could be INR 8.5 lakhs. But considering BMW’s pricing trend for entry-level bikes, it could be a lot less than that.
BMW Motorrad’s current entry-level bike is the G 310 R, which goes at a price of around INR 2.6 lakhs exclusive showroom. The bike uses the same engine as the TVS Apache RR 310, making 33.5 bhp at 9,250 RPM, along with a peak torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 RPM.
