It looks like there is some good news for Harley-Davidson fans in India. The premium cruiser brand has revealed that it will be bringing the Sportster S to the Indian market. The cruiser motorcycle is slated to launch by the end of 2021, and bookings for the same have already opened to prospective customers.
The Harley-Davidson Sportster S is a very significant model for the brand due to its electronic package. The most interesting feature that prospective buyers should be excited about is the addition of five riding modes, two of which are customisable. The instrument console has a Bluetooth connection. Other safety measures include lean-sensitive traction control and cornering ABS.
Under the body, the Harley-Davidson Sportster S gets a highlighting engine in the form of the 1250cc V-twin engine, which is taken from the Pan America 1250 adventure. This engine is said to be capable of churning out a maximum power of 119.3 bhp, along with a peak torque of 127.4 Nm. Interestingly, the same engine in the Pan Americal makes much more power, though the torque output is the same. Owning to the nature and purpose, the adventure motorcycle rides at a maximum of 150.2 bhp and 8,750 RPM while making the same 128 Nm torque at 6,750 RPM. The engine in the cruiser could be returned to have more bottom-end torque and a flat high-end.
Coming to the aesthetic appeal, this Sportster S is a single-seater cruiser with twin-mounted exhaust. The Brembo brakes and adjustable Showa suspension adds a premium touch to this motorcycle.
Despite revealing the launch, the premium bike maker has not dropped any hints on the pricing of the cruiser. However, we can expect it to be priced lesser than Pan America, the adventure sibling. If this is true, the pricing for the Sportster could be anywhere around Rs. 17 lakhs mark.
