With the global automobile manufacturers now straining a lot more over electrification, it was only the right time that we came across new innovations. While there are automakers who are introducing new models to their EV lineup, we have also come across which are offering electronic conversion kits for the existing ICE-powered automobiles.
The latest motorbike to receive the change in India’s most beloved mileage offering bike, the Hero Splendor. The latest converter kit in the market is conceptualized by a Thane-based EV startup that goes by the name GoGoA1.
Interestingly, this conversion kit has gained the right spot in the market, for being an EV package accredited by RTO.
Talking of the EV conversion kit, the kit comprises a DC to DC converter, wiring harness, a new throttle, key switch with controller box, and new swing arms. The package also includes a 2.8kWh battery pack that adds power to the brushless 2kW electric motor, mounted on the rear wheel’s hub.
As per the developers, the EV setup alone is able to churn out a total of 2.5hp of power, besides giving out 63Nm of peak torque. When added to the prototype Hero Splendor the developers of the kit affirmed that it was capable of increasing the power output up to 6hp (4.6kW), making it almost double the previous output and 63 Nm of torque.
The electric engine present in the conversion kit comes accompanied with a braking setup of drum and shoe combination, which was lent from Bajaj Pulsar. Further, the kit is able to add to the overall speed of the bike as it was able to gain a top speed of 80 km per hour, while it is said to return a range of 151 km on a full charge.
Lastly, moving to the pricing of the motorbike, the conversion package comes at a price of Rs 35,000, where buyers can utilize a GST input of Rs 6,300. The EV package by GoGoA1 comes with a three-year guarantee, including the battery pack. However, if you want to opt for the better version, the 151km variant, the value goes up to Rs 95,000, excluding the price of the donor motorbike.
