Right on schedule, documents emerged from Europe show the Kawasaki Versys 650 is all set to receive its long-overdue update. The update is expected imminently for the 2022 model year.
As per the leaked info and the teaser image of the 2022 model available on the US website of the brand, it is clear that the 2022 Versys isn't a clean-sheet redesign, as many key aspects are carried over, and the parallel-twin engine tops the lists.
The Versys retains its butter-smooth identical performance figures to the current model, with 65.7 hp peak power at 8,500 rpm and 61 Nm of torque arriving at 7,000 rpm.
Further, the details asserted that the bike maintains its exhaust. Well, that was expected as both the engine and the exhaust had received mild tweaks a year ago to comply with Euro 5 emissions limits, which led to a slight drop in performance.
The chassis also remains unaltered in the 2022 model, sharing a wheelbase of 55.7-inch similar to the current machine, measuring 85.2 inches in overall length. Its width too measures the same, 33.1 inches.
So what change does the new model get? The answer is styling. The 2022 model is set to get a styling update, with a new front-end design at the very least. With the adjustable screen at its lowest position, the new bike measures 53.5 inches tall, compared to 55.1 inches for the current model. The 2022 bike is 55.9 inches high, against 57.1 inches for the 2021 machine with the screen raised.
Although this might be regarded as a slight sign of an improved screen, there's more data of updates in the weight, which increases by 4.4 pounds from 478 pounds to 483 pounds, measured complete with a full tank of fuel.
It is expected at least some circulated update evidence is set to be carried to the Versys 650, which makes sense that the 2022 model would be more touring-oriented.
The 2022 model is anticipated to be launched next week, and the motorcycle is suspected to be launched in India by early 2022.
