TVS has been on a high in 2021 with the launch of the updated RR 310 and the refreshed RTR 200. But that’s not it, the Indian bike maker is set to launch a new product in its lineup and has been building up on the same for quite some time now. But based on a new update on social media, TVS will be launching the same by the end of September.
There are multiple indications that hint at the new motorcycle, including the trademark filed last year in November. As per the trademark application, TVS is reserving the Fiero 125 name. However, based on the latest teaser released by the bike maker, ‘Turn Your RAD On’ seems to be inclined towards a 125cc Radeon.
Interestingly, apart from the Fiero name, TVS had also filed trademarks for Retron and Raider names in the past, so nothing is certain yet. Going by the lineup, there is a big gap in the TVS portfolio. The company sells three commuter bikes in the 110cc segment and then comes the RTR 160 2V and 4V. So this 125cc could bridge this gap and also bring versatility to the lineup.
It is only to be seen whether TVS chooses to go with a commuter approach or maintain its spice with an Apache-like 125cc motorcycle. A 125cc Apache could be a great product for prospective buyers since both Bajaj (TVS’s prime competitor) and KTM have the same motorcycle in multiple segments.
The power figures of this new TVS 125cc could be between 10 bhp to 12 bhp, based on its segment. If it is a commuter, the company could keep the power low to make it competitive in terms of efficiency to the likes of Honda SP125 or Pulsar 125. However, an Apache-like motorcycle could mean the power production would be closer to the NS125 or the Duke 125.
