Yamaha YZF-R15 has been the bread and butter for the Japanese brand here in India, thanks to its ever sporty design and performance. And now, the newer version is set to hit the market, and the launch date has been announced officially. The new model is set to be out for the public on September 21, 2021.
Now, though the launch date has been announced, the bike maker hasn’t announced which model it will be launching. And while there are good reasons to believe that the new launch could be the updated R15 V3 or the R15 V4, there are speculations that this new model could be the new R15M.
Now, we have seen quite a few spy shots of the Yamaha R15M, and the design looks inspired by the R1M version. There is a single LED headlamp instead of two of the standard model. The fairing has also undergone some changes all around to look like a bigger bike as a whole. Another significant update is the presence of USD forks instead of the standard telescopic front suspension.
There were also some leaked documents that show that the motorcycle will be powered by the same 155cc engine. The engine produces 18.1 bhp of power, which is less than the standard model produces at 18.3 bhp. The transmission would be done by the same 6-speed gearbox in the R15M. Apart from that, we could see certain features, like a slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS, and Bluetooth connectivity of the instrument console.
As for the pricing, there is no official word on the same, and we don’t expect it to be out before the launch. However, we know for sure that it could be priced a bit higher than the standard model, thanks to the few extra premium features.
The present generation Yamaha YZF-R15 is powered by a 155cc engine with VVA technology. This engine makes a maximum power of 18.3 bhp at 10,000, along with a peak torque of 14.1 Nm, coming at 8,500 RPM.
