One of the Largest UK-owned motorbike manufacturers, Triumph has pulled off wraps from its much-awaited Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR. The naked street bike is based on the naked Speed Triple RS. However, The bike has adapted to some styling tweaks as it flaunts a half-faired café racer-inspired design.
Exploring the exterior of the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR, the automaker has taken an approach beyond traditional. It now comes with a round headlamp, coupled with a bubble-style windscreen. The latter follows the legacy of neo-retro cafe racer. It also sports an LED taillight. Moreover, the previous generation’s single-piece handlebar has now been replaced by the new clip-on handlebars, adding to its sportier riding geometry.
Coming behind the wind deflector, the naked street bike features a TFT dash, highlighted by a 5-inch screen and Bluetooth connectivity. Riders will have five different riding modes to choose from - Rain, Sport, Road, Track, and a customized mode.
In terms of convenience, the Triple 1200 RR packs an electronically adjustable Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension. The suspension is more on the premium side than the one which is available in Naked bike. The two-wheeler is the first one from Triumph motorcycles to get the advanced dampers.
Featuring the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tyres, Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR dawns 17-inch alloy with it. There is optional stickier Supercorsa SC2 V3 tyres too.
Moreover, the manufacturer has also revised the position of the footpegs in this motorbike, shifting them near the rear seats. Buyer’s get two colour options for the new Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR - Crystal White and Red Hopper, with both of them having Storm Grey touches.
At its heart, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR comes with the same triple-cylinder, 1160 cc engine. It is capable of pushing out a maximum power of 117.5 hp along with a peak torque of 125 Nm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed transmission.
Other key features worth a mention are the 1200 RR’s Switchable Cornering Traction Control, Cornering ABS, Wheelie Control, and Bi-directional Quick Shifter. The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR will also get its signature ‘My Connectivity’ system.
Lastly, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR is expected to have a price tag of £17,950 (on-road), which is equivalent to 18.30 lakhs in Indian rupees. It is expected to arrive at the global markets in January 2022.
